In 2006, EFA members in Brooklyn, N.Y., started to meet informally. Not quite a chapter, nor yet an affinity group—just an opportunity for like-minded colleagues to get together. They call themselves BAGEL (Brooklyn Associates for a Greater English Language). If members across the country would like to get together in similar fashion, we'll gladly post your news and meeting dates here.

B.A.G.E.L.
Tuesday, May 20, 2008 (6:00 to 8:00 p.m.)
EFA's informal Brooklyn networking offshoot, BAGEL (Brooklyn Associates for a Greater English Language) will meet in the large back room of its new venue: the Olive Vine Cafe at 54 Seventh Avenue (between Lincoln Pl. and St. John's Pl.), in Park Slope. This location is convenient to the 2/3 trains (the Grand Army Plaza stop), the B/Q line (the 7th Avenue stop), the Flatbush Avenue (B41) bus, and the 7th Avenue (B67) bus. The menu there is fairly standard Middle Eastern, with appetizers around $5, pizzas from $6 to $9, sandwiches and platters from $5 to $9, and salads in the same range. It's BYOB, so we'll bring a red wine to start, and anyone is welcome to bring white if they wish.
Please let Dave Hall know by Monday, May 19, if you plan to attend. That's davidrhall AT earthlink DOT net.
The only requirements to attend are EFA membership (or as a guest of one) and some (real or imagined) Brooklyn tie. For more information, contact Dave Hall at davidrhall AT earthlink DOT net.
