Due to a lack of interest, the Long Island EFA Chapter is going on hiatus. Anyone who is interested in re-animating this chapter is encouraged to reach out to the Chapter Development Chairperson, Robin Martin at chapters at the-efa dot org.

Activities of EFA's Long Island chapter will be posted here. For additional information, contact Janet F Arzooman, chapter coordinator, at chap_longisland AT the-efa.org. You must be an EFA member to join an EFA chapter. Chapter events are open to all members, guests of members, and freelancers interested in joining EFA.

His topic is about the impact of the growth of self-publishing on book design, freelancing, and freelancers' rates. Among other aspects of this topic, Steve says he'll discuss strategies for dealing with self-publishers who have a tendency to want us to price our freelance services in line with their DIY mentality. That is to say, cheap ... Expect some back and forth about negotiating rates and demonstrating our value to self-publishers.
