I'm a freelance copyeditor/proofreader with 14 years experience, including many years of developmental editing. I currently copyedit/proofread for McGraw-Hill Higher Education, Kendall Hunt Publishing, Macmillan Publishing Services, and Mineta Transportation Institute at San Diego State University.
I copyedit and proofread electronically only. For the past three years, I worked as a full-time digital content editor for the British Medical Journal Publishing Group (BMJ Group) based in London. This position required strict attention to grammar, style, and syntax as we prepared a large amount of content for a point-of-care product (for doctors requiring advanced diagnostic and pharmacological information while treating patients; the product was published in partnership with Epocrates, Inc.).
I am quick, versatile, and finicky when it comes to creating camera-ready pages. I am used to the publication process, including tight deadlines and last-minute editorial changes. I work hard to fine-tune the writing without changing the author's intent. I currently work with Word 2008, FrameMaker 7, and Acrobat 9 Professional.
