On August 29 and 30, 2016, the first EFA conference in more than 10 years was held at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York City.
The conference featured presentations by well-known speakers and successful freelancers, panel discussions where attendees heard about multiple approaches to freelancing, and small-group, skill-sharpening workshops. The schedule included time for networking with fellow freelancers—the best mentors for the self-employed. Two keynote addresses were given by
- Jane Friedman, whose award-winning blog for writers at JaneFriedman.com receives more than 150,000 visits per month, and
- Mary Norris, author of Between You & Me: Confessions of a Comma Queen and a three-decade veteran of The New Yorker’s copy department.
EFA members can read about the conference in the September-October 2016 issue of The Freelancer.
The next EFA conference is planned for 2018 in a different location (still TBD).
