Careington does not offer insurance coverage but instead customized discount plans and a premium discount of 10 percent. Careington will waive one-time application fees for EFA member-subscribers. These plans and discounted rates are available nationwide exclusively to EFA member-subscribers. A member can cancel within 30 days and receive a full refund, less the processing fee.

How Discount Plans Work

Saving money on health care is easy with Careington's discount plans. A member simply selects a participating provider location and then pays the discounted rate directly to the provider at the time of service.

This plan does not meet the minimum creditable coverage requirements under M.G.L. c. 111M and 956 CMR 5.00. The plan provides discounts at certain health care providers for medical services. The range of discounts will vary depending on the type of provider and service. The plan does not make payments directly to the providers of medical services. Plan members are obligated to pay for all health care services but will receive a discount from those health care providers who have contracted with the discount medical plan organization. You may access a list of participating health care providers at this website. Upon request the plan will make available a written list of participating health care providers. You have the right to cancel within the first 30 days after receipt of membership materials and receive a full refund, less a nominal processing fee (nominal fee for MD residents is $5). Total-Care

Total-Care provides members with a comprehensive discount plan that covers the entire health care spectrum. It is the most complete discount plan available for individuals who are underinsured or uninsured. Membership for an individual is $26.95 per month, in addition to a $20 application fee.

Dental/Vision

The Dental & Vision Plus discount plan is a good option for members who have a health insurance or Medicare plan that doesn't cover dental, vision or prescriptions. The membership fee per household is $10.25/month or $97.20/annually.

Multi-Care

Multi-Care features discounts on a variety of health care services. It's a great option for members who already have doctor and hospital visits covered by a health insurance plan or for seniors who have Medicare. Membership per household is $13.04 per month or $116.10 per year.

Please note that Careington's customized rates to EFA member-subscribers are applicable only if application forms are obtained from EFA and payments are mailed by USPS to Mark Roberts at Careington at the address below. Member services will be provided by Careington directly to EFA member-subscribers.

A member may call a physician in advance to determine if he or she is affiliated with the Careington plan or may call Member Services at 800-290-0523 to nominate a physician to the Careington plan(s).
