Audra Gorgiev

Editor Extraordinaire ~ Freelance Editor/Proofreader

I am a full-time professional freelance editor (copy, line, and technical editing) and proofreader since 2000, editing a wide variety of material (including technical documents; scientific/medical research journal articles; academic documents; K-12 STEM and postsecondary textbook and e-learning materials; manuscripts; pharmaceutical marketing material/monographs; corporate communications, white papers, regulatory reports, and marketing material; finance/investment reports, funds/markets briefs, and investor literature; bio/autobiographies; and ESL documents). My references will attest to my determination to accept nothing short of perfection, as I am dedicated to offering the highest degree of professionalism in the work I complete.

A self-starter with initiative, my editing and proofreading skills extend across many subjects and business needs—you could say that I am an “editing savant.” I am a passionate perfectionist when it comes to a succinct, well-written, and mistake-free document—that oh-so-important first impression. I also possess a proven ability to make sound decisions to achieve creative and innovative solutions for my clients. In short, I am the hidden accomplice behind a successful document.

My knowledge of Chicago (16; 17), APA, AMA, AP, and Canadian Press style guides (and others) is extensive, as well as following or creating client style guides if required. I edit using MS Word/PowerPoint/Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Docs (in addition to various proprietary software), and have experience working within structured authoring tools and template-based content management systems (such as ScholarOne, GatherContent, Delta, and Slack). Other skill sets I offer to my clients include strong research and organizational expertise, fact-checking and tagging documents, and HTML knowledge.

Accountability for my performance and results is very important to me, whatever the document may be, and I strive to provide constructive feedback and meet client deadlines, My time is very flexible and I am on call six days a week for long- or short-term projects; my computer is fired up at 9 a.m. and is on until 9 p.m. MST.
