We’re hiring! With the EFA’s part-time membership and programs coordinator and website and online platforms assistant soon moving on to new opportunities, we have reenvisioned these roles and are now hiring a full-time membership coordinator. This position will provide support to current and prospective members and help maintain the EFA’s online platforms and website. The membership coordinator will report to the EFA’s general manager and work closely with committee and board members. The membership coordinator can work remotely within the Eastern or Central time zones, but preference is for an individual in the New York City region who is willing to occasionally report to the New York City office.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist potential and current members with questions about how to join and renew and how to access and utilize their online membership account and all EFA benefits and programs.
  • Identify inefficiencies in membership onboarding process and work with appropriate staff and committee members to implement changes.
  • Work with Membership chairperson to add, update, and verify third-party member benefits and communicate such changes to membership.
  • Draft correspondence to members and clients.
  • Manage the online community platform, Groups.io. Onboard users and provide technical support. Create new Groups.io special interest groups as requested. Assist platform moderators as needed.
  • Maintain membership data, produce reports, and assist with the eventual implementation of a new membership database.
  • Administer the EFA Job List by reviewing and circulating submissions and responding to queries from clients and members.
  • Onboard Chapter Coordinators and assist Chapter Development chairperson as needed.
  • Assist with the work of Board committees and the Diversity Initiative as needed.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot domain email addresses.
  • Work with website developers, volunteers, and staff to maintain, update, and troubleshoot the EFA website.
  • Review and report on Google Analytics.
  • Assist with biennial EFA conference as needed.
  • Assist with creation and promotion of educational booklets.
  • Assist with general office administration.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
  • Familiarity with Mac OS.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues independently.
  • Experience with WordPress, Google Analytics, and Mailchimp a plus.


  • Able to provide excellent customer/member service.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Must be extremely organized, diligent, able to multitask, and operate with only the highest degree of integrity.
  • Interest in researching and implementing technological solutions to improve customer service.
  • Able to work independently with a high degree of initiative and collaboratively with a small team.
  • Experience working in an association or nonprofit organization a plus.

Additional requirements

  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.
  • Successful applicants will be required to complete Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion training modules provided by the EFA.
  • The EFA requires staff to be vaccinated against COVID-19, subject to limited exceptions.

Working Conditions

Extensive computer use, and regular video-conferencing. Occasional evening and weekend work and travel (with advance notice).

Salary and Benefits

$42,500 to $46,500 annually. Paid holidays and vacation. Health insurance and retirement accounts are not currently available.
