A few weeks ago we announced that the EFA has partnered with the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) to launch the Editorial Freelancers Association Ruth Mullen Memorial Scholarship program. Under the program, we are sponsoring two $5,000 scholarships, one for an undergraduate attending a historically Black college or university (HBCU) and another for an HBCU alum attending graduate school. You can read all about the program in our February 15 post in the EFA News & Blog section of our website.

We’re pleased to announce that our scholarship program opened to applications this week. On April 12, the UNCF sent potentially eligible students an email directing them to the EFA Ruth Mullen Memorial Scholarship page of their website, which contains detailed information on the program and instructions for applying.

We’ve also established a Donate page at the UNCF site, so EFA members and others can easily make tax-deductible voluntary contributions to the program. Over the next few months, we’ll be communicating further about fundraising, but for now, please consider donating and feel free to post the Donate link on your social media and share the link with friends and associates. We hope to raise enough money to provide even more EFA Ruth Mullen Scholarships next year!

If you have any questions about the program or would like to be involved, email HBCUscholarships@the-efa.org.
