November 8 - December 1

great-gifts-with-code

It’s that time of year again. What do you buy for the word nerds in your life? Books of course!

For a limited time, the EFA Bookstore* is home to a small Great Gifts Collection, and if you use the code EFAHoliday25 at checkout, you can get 25% off of books in that collection. (Please note that our own booklets aren’t included in this sale.)

Our selection of books has been curated from suggestions from our members and the bibliographies in our booklets.

We’ve stocked books on the craft of writing, like

  • Art of Time in Fiction: As Long as It Takes by Joan Silber
  • Steering the Craft: A Twenty-First-Century Guide to Sailing the Sea of Story by Ursula K Le Guin
  • Writing Down the Bones: Freeing the Writer Within by Natalie Goldberg
  • From Where You Dream: The Process of Writing Fiction by Robert Olen Butler

Also fun books about grammar and mechanics, like

  • Grammar Snobs Are Great Big Meanies: A Guide to Language for Fun and Spite by June Casagrande
  • Sister Bernadette’s Barking Dog: The Quirky History and Lost Art of Diagramming Sentences by Kitty Burns Florey
  • Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation by Lynne Truss

Books about self-publishing, marketing, freelancing, and entrepreneurship, like

  • Freelancer’s Bible: Everything You Need to Know to Have the Career of Your Dreams—On Your Terms by Sara Horowitz
  • All Marketers Are Liars: The Underground Classic That Explains How Marketing Really Works–And Why Authenticity Is the Best Marketing of All by Seth Godin
  • Building a Storybrand: Clarify Your Message So Customers Will Listen by Donald Miller
  • Self-Publishing Boot Camp Guide for Independent Authors, 4th Edition: Your roadmap to creating, publishing, selling, and marketing your books by Carla King

And just fun stuff, like

  • Becoming: A Guided Journal for Discovering Your Voice by Michelle Obama
  • Museum ABC by Metropolitan Museum of Art
  • Alphabetical: How Every Letter Tells a Story by Michael Rosen
  • Save Room for Pie: Food Songs and Chewy Ruminations by Jr Roy Blount
  • Made in America: An Informal History of the English Language in the United States by Bill Bryson
  • Between Mom and Me: A Mother and Son Keepsake Journal by Katie Clemons

We are always looking to add more books. If you have a book in mind for your word nerd but can’t find it in our collection, Robin Martin has generously volunteered to check the Ingram Distributor to see if we can add it. You can reach her at pubs@the-efa.org, but please keep in mind that, like all of us, she has limited time and capacity, especially during the holiday season, and it might take her 10 days to two weeks to check on your request.

Browse our collection here.

November 8 – December 1 only, use EFAHoliday25 at checkout.

*Our online bookstore host, Aerio, handles all purchases, deliveries, questions, returns, etc., and the EFA office cannot handle any issues you may encounter at the bookstore. Please do not contact the EFA regarding purchases made at the bookstore. Thank you, and happy holidays.
