North Texas Chapter – Shapes and Patterns: Mapping Your Way to a Stronger Story
Developmental editing can sometimes feel like steering a rudderless ship, but there’s a way to chart your course. In this interactive session we’ll explore book mapping, a valuable tool for developmental editing of longer narratives and for assisting authors with revisions. Book mapping breaks down the manuscript into its components chapter by chapter or scene by scene, revealing patterns that give insight into what’s working and what’s not, and why. We’ll discuss how to navigate the book mapping process, recognize patterns and solutions, and begin to create a revisions plan for the author.
