Trans Allyship for Writers and Editors

October 26th @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm EDT

Trans people aren’t new, but the past few decades have seen an explosion of writing—scholarly, journalistic, medical, and commercial—about trans people and communities. In this workshop, Davey Shlasko will review key concepts and terminology for communicating about trans identities, explore common problems in writing about trans issues, and introduce trans-inclusive practices for professional relationships. Attendees will learn

  • how to identify outdated, inaccurate, or offensive terminology regarding trans identities.
  • how to recognize writing about trans people and communities that is trite, stereotyped, or just boring.
  • how to work effectively with trans authors, regardless of topic, without letting confusion over gender get in the way.

The workshop will include many opportunities to ask questions, discuss implications, and practice inclusive communication.

Registration: Information on how to register for the webinar will be sent to EFA members via email, so please check your inboxes for more information on how to sign up.

Price: FREE FOR EFA MEMBERS (no guests, please)
