Academic Editing Chapter: Working with ESL/EFL/Multilingual Authors
Working with authors who are writing in their second and third languages can pose challenges for academic editors, and an editor may need to get creative in their approaches and solutions. Join Katharine O’Moore-Klopf of KOK Edit as she discusses specific challenges that may arise and shares some best practices for editors to bear in mind. This event will be held over Zoom. The event will be recorded; both the recording and the slides will be made available after the event.[Image description: A photo of Katharine O’Moore-Klopf, a light-skinned woman with gray, chin-length hair and glasses. About the speaker:
Katharine (Kathy) O’Moore-Klopf is a medical editor and a board-certified editor in the life sciences. She has been self-employed as an editor, through her sole proprietorship KOK Edit, since 1995. She has long specialized in substantive and developmental editing of textbook chapters and articles for multilingual authors who plan to submit them to English-language medical publishers and medical journals. She can often be found drinking a cup of tea brewed using fresh tea leaves from China, Japan, Taiwan, or India in honor of her authors’ publishing successes. Find out more about Katharine at KOK Edit.
