Zoom EFA Upper Hudson Chapter Meeting: Editorial Work and Racial Justice
Join us on Thursday, June 25, from 4 to 6 pm, for an interactive Zoom meeting. Please reply to the chapter leaders if you are interested, and we’ll send you the Zoom sign-in information. We ask that you do not share it with anyone.
June snuck up on us, and so we pushed our meeting this month to June 25 to give us time to prepare. The events of the past few weeks in the wake of the killing of George Floyd and the cumulative effects of 400 years of oppression have played a part in both the delay – how is it possible to concentrate on anything else at this pivotal moment in our country’s history? – and the topics we chose for this meeting.
How do we, as editorial freelancers, address racial injustice on a micro (personal professional) and macro (industry-wide) level? What can we do in our own work and what is or should our industry be doing? What is the EFA’s Diversity Initiative? Chapter leaders Terese and Teresa are working on these topics and scheduling speakers for this meeting. Stay tuned for more details!
There will be time for us to “check in” and talk about how we are faring in the pandemic.
