Allison Van Deventer is a knowledgeable and versatile editor who specializes in developmental editing of book manuscripts and journal articles in the academic humanities. With a PhD in literature and many years of experience as an editor and university writing teacher, she has helped clients from all over the world publish scholarly books and journal articles, land jobs, finish their dissertations and theses, and win grants and fellowships. She has a particular interest in helping scholars in the humanities and qualitative social sciences turn their dissertations into books.
Throughout her editing, Allison is committed to preserving your own voice while helping you make the best possible impression on your particular audience. She has extensive experience in working with non-native English speakers. In addition to her editing and teaching work at Harvard, Tufts University, and UCLA, Allison has worked as a textbook editor and project manager. She speaks fluent Italian and French and can edit manuscripts that use these languages, including checking translations.
