Amy Megill

Editor Amy

Editing is my life! Yes, I am that grammar nerd. I’ve been editing professionally for sixteen years, but my passion for language began early on. Copyediting is my favorite editorial service, but I also offer—and enjoy—developmental editing, proofreading, manuscript evaluations, query letter coaching, and writing. (Ask about my new-client discount!) My favorite things to edit are books/novels, medical literature, and technical documents, such as technology-related/IT-industry blog posts and journal articles. Regarding books, I’ve worked in many genres, including adult literary fiction, traditional nonfiction, young adult (YA), fantasy, science fiction, children’s literature, memoir, romance, mystery, historical fiction, crime, etc.

Education is crucial. I have a bachelor’s degree in mass communication, a university-level editing certificate, and a master’s degree in publishing with an editorial emphasis. I also enjoy taking continuing-education courses and attending editing conferences to help me stay sharp in my field, as language is always evolving.

Fun facts: I’m a coordinator of the EFA Houston chapter, and I have six (!) parrots and one dog. Additionally, I enjoy practicing photography, playing the piano, traveling, gardening, and reading. I run EditorAmy.com from Houston, Texas.

Above all, I love helping writers meet and exceed their goals!
