Brooke Goode Editing & Writing Services
I’m a life-long lover of books and writing with a 30-year career in the publishing industry– from newspapers to books, with stops along the way in magazines, journals, and radio.
As a full-time freelance for the past 25 years, the skills I offer clients are manuscript evaluation, developmental editing, copy editing, research and fact-checking, proofreading, and writing. Clients include published authors and novice writers of fiction and non-fiction, publishers, academic organizations. I enjoy, and have a lot of experience in, memoir, including travel writing. I’m well versed in social sciences, humanities, politics, the arts– but I need not be a specialist in your field to bring a meticulous eye and thoughtful review (and a little humor never hurts) to my work on your project.
My career spans four continents–US, UK, Australia, and Africa. Highlights are: national editor of a health and wellness website; editor of a business magazine for 8 years; freelancer for major publishing houses, including Henry Holt and St. Martin’s Press, a university press (Rutgers), and an academic publisher (Rowman & Littlefield); writing and editing for a mass-market women’s weekly in London (IPC Magazines), a college bulletin (Drew Magazine), and a major art museum (Newark Museum). One of my niche markets is Africa — politics, economy, culture, and travel on that continent.
