Buffy Gilfoil

A communications professional with a varied repertoire, I am a skilled researcher, fact checker, writer, copy editor, developmental editor, managing editor, project editor and digital content manager. Specialties include corporate communications, health-medical, obituaries, politics-government, public policy, travel and website content. I particularly enjoy transforming jumbled rough drafts into compelling prose ready for publication, not only retaining the original meaning of the author but also clarifying it. Architecture and design are of great interest to me.

After earning my Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism at the University of Colorado, I launched my career as the city-beat reporter at the Durango (Colorado) Herald. Over several years, writing and editing I did on a freelance basis appeared in dozens of newspapers, magazines, newsletters and internal publications. I also worked for more than 10 years as an external affairs reservist for the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

In 2017 I began working as a substitute teacher and in 2021 I transitioned into a full-time position, teaching logic and rhetoric at a Catholic high school.
