NorthLight Wordcraft works with you to make your writing as powerful and accessible as possible, through careful editing and proofreading. I bring to your project many years of experience of working with writers of all levels, whether at the developmental stage or the moment of final polish.
I am a retired English professor and teacher educator with many years of experience in writing, editing, and proofreading. I have a B.A. in English with a Biology minor, an M.A. in English — both from San Francisco State University — and a Ph.D. from Stanford University, in Language, Literacy and Culture. I served as Director of the Composition Program at San Francisco State for 10 years.
In my time at San Francisco State, I taught many writing-related courses, from Basic English through Advanced Composition, along with courses in literature and a course called Grammar for Writers. I was a teacher educator, preparing teachers from the level of middle school through community college.
I also worked at the University of California Medical Center, where I edited scientific papers in a research lab. In that capacity, I worked as a freelance editor for scientists in Japan. I currently work for the Writing Center at A.T. Still University, coaching graduate students in the health sciences.
Do you need a coach to help you improve your writing, whether for personal use or career advancement? I have coached many writers to help them communicate more effectively; I can do the same for you.
I enjoy any kind of work involving writing. Let me know how I can help.
