Elizabeth Polen

Welcome! I’m a versatile, reliable freelance editor with over twenty years of professional experience working with publishers and authors to improve, correct, and polish work for publication. I have worked in numerous areas, including novels of many genres, children’s fiction, academic dissertations, how-to and self-help, magazines, newsletters and brochures, reports, and more.

After earning a BA in English and Creative Writing at Miami University, I spent six years as an editorial coordinator and technical editor at Carnegie Mellon University. My freelance clients have included Amazon, the American Red Cross and other nonprofits, graphic design firms, advertising agencies, and academic institutions, as well as established and emerging authors. I’ve edited hundreds of novels in nearly every genre, award-winning children’s books, dissertations and other academic writing, community newspapers and magazines, newsletters, product guides, book proposals, and brochures. In addition, I have extensive experience writing book descriptions, promotional copy, and author bios. I’m also the editor of the newsletter for the Depreciation Lands Museum, a local historical site.
