LINK Book Development

I fell in love with publishing when I joined Encyclopaedia Britannica as an indexer in 1970 to work on its major revision. When that project ended, I took time off to do some traveling in Europe and Asia. On my return, I joined SRA, a scholastic publisher, as a copy editor. After 14 years serving as manager, test development editor, and college text editor, I formed LINK Book Development in 1986 to offer a full line of services to book publishers, including proofreading, copyediting, indexing, manuscript development, and typesetting. In 1992, typesetting services were discontinued for lack of profitability. LINK Customers have included National Textbook Company, Oxford University Press, Dover Publications, Ginn and Company, University of North Carolina Press, University of Chicago Press, Sage Publications, and University of Illinois Press. Operations have continued to the present date.

As sole proprietor and lone employee since 1990, I have performed all the services offered by the company. I provided indexing services to the University of Chicago Press and the University of Illinois Press. I have copyedited for all the customers named except Ginn and Sage, for which I developed educational materials in mathematics and English language arts. I have proofread for Dover and National Textbook and set type for National Textbook Company. I managed the company’s marketing, work flow, and finances.
