Josh Bicknell

Next Generation English Llc

With over ten years of teaching, professional tutoring, and freelance copywriting and editing experience along with educator certification from SBEC in Texas, I offer quality, expert writing and editing services, and I am proud to now be an active member of the Editorial Freelancers Association. My areas of expertise include academic writing and editing including college composition and dissertations or theses, resume writing, fiction and literary non-fiction manuscript editing, ghostwriting, and college entrance and application services including private tutoring and any given level of editing. These services range in scope from basic proofreading and copyediting to more advanced line editing, developmental editing, and beyond. For over six years, I have worked closely with ESL and non-native English speakers in both ghostwriting and developmental editing as well as tutoring for TOEFL, accent reduction, and conversational English skills.

I have worked with numerous doctoral candidates, undergraduate students, professors, and academic or creative writing professors from institutions such as University of Houston, University of Texas, University of Missouri, Brigham Young University, Rice University, and alongside a number of K-12 campus administrators, curriculum writers, and publishers from across the Region IV area in the Greater Houston area and beyond.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature with an emphasis in Creative Writing from the University of Missouri where I graduated with Honors. I previously worked for Persea Publishing based out of New York, NY reviewing poetry manuscripts, and I also worked for The Missouri Review in an internship capacity where I reviewed both fiction and non-fiction manuscript submissions in addition to conducting author interviews and facilitating audio recording and audio editing for selected works of fiction.

After graduation, I moved back to Texas and worked for two years as a professional writing tutor at Lone Star College in northwest Houston while obtaining my teaching certification, and at the same time I worked for St. Luke’s Hospital at The Vintage and Memorial Hermann Northeast on a freelance basis writing press releases, news letters, web content, and other development copy.

Although I hold teaching close to my heart and love spreading my passion for language to others, I find that all these experiences and opportunities have only led to my ultimate dream which is to conduct my own business and to edit and write freely to the very high standards I hold for myself and for my work. I am a perfectionist, to be sure, and was born with a natural inclination for writing – “a way with words” perhaps. I am happy to be following my dreams, and look forward to years of lifelong learning from both my work and the clients with whom I work.
