Joslyn Pine

Wordcrafter

As a seasoned publishing professional and full-time freelancer, my skills include line and developmental/substantive editing, copyediting and proofreading, as well as manuscript evaluation. Literary fiction is my specialty, while the mystery/crime/thriller genre is a significant subspecialty. (Please refer to my resume–the attached PDF–which includes my partial project list and testimonials.)

My career has always centered on books because of my abiding passion for literature. My skills and experience have been applied to all forms of creative, commercial and scholarly writing. I have also worked as a literary agent, placing books with houses like Scribner’s and HarperCollins, and short stories in magazines like The New Yorker. I was a first round judge for the PEN/Nelson Algren Fiction Award.

I routinely use the Track Changes feature in Microsoft Word for the majority of my projects, and Adobe Reader for later stages when working with PDFs. The seventeenth edition of The Chicago Manual of Style is my reference bible, and I keep a copy of The Elements of Style close at hand.

I have been a full-time editorial freelancer since the summer of 2007, with a client list that includes two publishers as well as individual writers, some of them self-published. I would welcome the opportunity to add you to that list.
