Karen Heath

Karen Heath Editing & Coaching

I am a book coach and editor, focusing primarily on developmental editing and copy editing. I work most frequently with writers of fiction (literary, historical, women’s, speculative, and mystery) and memoir. In addition to my experience as an editor, I bring 25 years of experience teaching writing, including traditional fiction workshops as well as individual tutorials with writers developing book-length manuscripts.

I believe that good editing includes good teaching: you should leave any round of feedback from me not only with specific suggestions for making your current story stronger but also with helpful insight into how to accomplish those strengths in your next work.

Whether you are looking for someone to help you explore possible directions for a new work, brainstorm new approaches to a scene or a new story structure, or offer feedback on a finished manuscript, my goal is to collaborate with you as you develop and polish the story you are longing to tell. I am always excited to be part of that journey, and I look forward to hearing about what you are working on now.
