I’m a copyeditor, proofreader, writer, researcher, and consultant with a prior professional background in education and librarianship at the secondary and postsecondary levels.
Although I don’t limit myself regarding subject matter, I specialize in environmental issues—such as climate change, renewables, wildlife conservation, ecosystem protection, environmentally conscious design, and sustainability—and outdoor recreation and pursuits of all kinds, including hiking, camping, backpacking, canoeing, kayaking, cycling, mountain biking, trail running, active travel, photography, gardening, and so on.
My clients include Adventure Publications, Allworth Press, Arcade Publishing, Avalon Travel, Clerisy Press, Good Books, Menasha Ridge Press, Parallax Press, Sky Pony Press, Skyhorse Publishing, SUNY Press, the University of Arizona Press, the University of Pennsylvania Press, the University Press of Florida, Wilderness Press, and independent authors published by the University of North Carolina Press and Yale University Press.
In my spare time, I provide pro bono writing, editorial, social media, research, consulting, and website management services to the Alabama Wildlife Center—an outstanding organization with amazing people doing phenomenal work.
I currently work and reside just south of Birmingham, Alabama, with my wife, Amy; our son, Goodman; and our lunatic dog, Hiram J. Buffington Fluff Esq. III.
