Laurie Eby

Silver Moon Editing

Laurie has three decades of experience writing and editing content in her full-time government position and as a part-time freelancer. As a professional editor, Laurie works with authors of both fiction and nonfiction works by providing copy editing, developmental editing, substantive/line editing, proofreading, and indexing services in addition to providing manuscript critiques and book or series bibles. Laurie offers an impartial review of the author’s work and proposes suggestions to improve and develop the manuscript.  She listens to the author’s wishes, priorities, and concerns and finds a balance to work within so that the final product retains the author’s intent, tone, voice, and message.  Laurie works through every component of a manuscript to determine what can be improved upon, reworked, or further developed.  Her goal is to help authors craft, develop, refine, and polish their manuscript until the final draft is ready for its debut to the publishing world.

Laurie collaborates with authors, businesses, government entities, charitable/nonprofit organizations, political organizations, and individuals to compose and/or edit fiction and nonfiction book manuscripts, business correspondence, strategic plans, contracts, public policy analyses, governmental reports, human resource policies, instruction manuals, press releases, marketing materials, direct mail pieces, fund-raising solicitations, newsletters, flyers, brochures, website content, and cover letters, résumés, and professional biographies.

Laurie edits a wide variety of fiction and nonfiction genres including, but not limited to:

Fiction: Chick Lit, Children’s, Fantasy, Paranormal, Spirituality, Suspense, Sports, Travel, Young Adult, Romance, and Romance subgenres including Contemporary, Erotic, Fantasy, Paranormal, Military, Christian, and Western.

Nonfiction: Academic, Christianity, Education, Public Policy, Politics, Law, Food and Drink, Sports and Games, Travel, and Self-Help.

Laurie has a Master’s degree in Public Administration, two Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Legal Studies, and a Legal Assistant Certificate, all from the University of Illinois-Springfield. Additionally, she has a Certificate in Editing from the University of Chicago.
