Excellent writing is rarely a solitary act, but professional academic editing is more than having a second pair of eyes to catch grammatical errors. Building on my years as a history professor and an editor, I approach my work as a collaboration to make your scholarly writing the best that it can be. Whether it’s a book manuscript, journal article, dissertation, or index, your final product will be demonstrably more polished and effective.
MargaretEdits specializes in copyediting, developmental editing, and writing coaching as well as expert indexing for academic writers. Previous clients include professors, graduate students, and the National Park service as well as university presses such as Cambridge University Press, University of North Carolina Press, Johns Hopkins University Press, Oxford University Press, University of Pennsylvania Press, and University of Tennessee Press.
I earned my PhD in History in 2003 and have worked in the editing and writing industry for twenty years. I was employed for three years as a copyeditor for the most widely distributed history journal in the United States.
