My focus is on accurate and clear communication, and my skills have been honed over 35 years of editing and coaching at daily newspapers and for a variety of individual clients. As a freelancer, I have edited for universities and colleges, social justice agencies and think tanks, university professors, and independent authors. I have edited newsletters, white papers, scholarly articles, curriculums, websites, e-books, letters, and university accreditation reports.
Teaching advanced copy editing online and lecturing at many conferences has given me additional insights into the process and the interpersonal and organizational skills that help the process. I have presented on editing and writing issues all over the United States and in Canada and England, I blog and post about language and answer questions every day about editing and usage. I was the first freelancer elected to the executive board of ACES: The Society for Editing, in 2012.
