Natasha Thomsen

Natasha lives in East Tennessee. Since 2009, she has worked as a staff technical editor for environmental remediation contractors and for the prime contractor in Oak Ridge. She’s also a landlady for several properties in Tennessee and New York. As a non-medical volunteer for the Medical Reserve Corps with the Tennessee Health Department, she partakes in various trainings (i.e., Mental Health First Aid; Stop the Bleed) and participates in exercises for first responders who deploy during disasters and events.

Before 2009, she worked as a researcher/writer in various corporate settings, including market research, medical media, records management, and information resource departments. She was a freelance writer for regional newspapers (Paris Passion, Mystic River Press, Westchester County Times), trade journals (Style Century Magazine, Antique Trader, Antique Week, Busybee Trader, The Journal of the National Medical Association), as well as for organizations (EFA, Something Good in the World, JNMA). As a playwright, her interest in the human story and natural mysteries took on theatrical form in one-act plays, some of which were selected for staged readings; she also facilitated self-development workshops.

Natasha authored two editions of Global Issues: Women’s Rights (Facts on File, New York City, 2007 and 2012), which are internationally available in university and high school libraries.

She is (still) currently drafting a time travel/historical-fantasy fiction/contemporary suspense novel for very young adults/upper middle grades focused on human rights memes and other contemporary issues. She is a member of the Knoxville Writers’ Guild and attends Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI Mid-South) conferences.

Her hobbies include cultivating a forest sanctuary; participating in creative and thought-provoking processes on Zoom; yoga, Zumba; and, when she can fit it in, country-western line dancing.
