Shana E. Rochester, Ph.D. is an educational psychologist who has worked closely with clients to improve their academic writing, conduct high-quality research, and maintain workplace productivity. After completing her B.A. in psychology from Spelman College, Shana earned her M.A. in educational studies from the University of Michigan (UM) and her Ph.D. in education and psychology from UM. She is a former Ford Foundation Predoctoral fellow and her dissertation received the Dimond Dissertation Award, where Shana’s scholarship was chosen from a pool of doctoral dissertations by the UM School of Education’s Graduate Affairs Committee as best-in-program by faculty in each of the school’s program units.
After completing her doctoral studies, Shana served as an inaugural AACTE/Holmes postdoctoral fellow in Boston University’s Wheelock College of Education and Human Development, where she facilitated dissertation writing workshops for professional organizations, such as the AACTE/Holmes Writing Retreat and Symposium. Shana also co-organized BU Wheelock’s first, 2-day writing retreat for doctoral students. Throughout her undergraduate, doctoral, and postdoctoral training, Shana published several co-authored manuscripts in peer-reviewed and practitioner journals. She has prepared invited talks for graduate students about writing (e.g., literature reviews, APA Style).
