I practice developmental editing with a focus on academic manuscripts and narrative nonfiction. I also consult with authors on crafting book proposals and navigating the publishing process.
I have a PhD in English from the University of Southern California and a JD from the University of Oregon. I spent nine years teaching college level writing and literature courses and six years practicing law. I’ve helped hundreds of students develop a thesis, craft an argument, and otherwise improve their writing.
I’ve also published two books, Artisan Cheese of the Pacific Northwest (Countryman 2009) and Pacific Northwest Cheese: A History (Oregon State University Press 2013). I’ve written two successful book proposals and, as a result, am intimately familiar with the ins and outs of the proposal processes of both commercial and academic presses.
I am an expert at collaborating with writers to shape their stories. Let’s talk about your project!
