The EFA staff and Board of Governors are continuing to monitor the situation and make decisions that reflect our commitment to the safety of our staff and members. This update describes some new steps we are taking going forward.

National office: As noted in the member-wide email on March 12, the EFA national office is now operating remotely. However, all programs will continue as usual where feasible and safe. The office can be reached, as always, at office@the-efa.org.

Chapter meetings: In light of the encouragement of public health officials to practice social distancing, we are suspending in-person chapter meetings at this time. Please contact chapter development chair Akiko Yamagata at chapters@the-efa.org if you are unsure how this affects you.

As a reminder: the EFA’s Zoom account is available to chapter coordinators wishing to host virtual meetings for the time being. This paid account accommodates longer sessions and more people than a free account. Please contact Christina Shideler at efa.christina.shideler@the-efa.org to schedule your meeting. We will be sending out an information sheet about using Zoom and hosting virtual meetings.

Events: Several of our planned events have been cancelled by their sponsoring organizations. The board is continuing to assess all other upcoming events on a case-by-case basis.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at office@the-efa.org.

Sincerely,

Christina M. Frey, Co-executive
William P. Keenan Jr., Co-executive
Molly McCowan, Events Chair
Akiko Yamagata, Chapter Development Chair
