EFA conferences allow you to network with colleagues and develop professionally—a rare opportunity for solo entrepreneurs. Our conferences have attracted more than 200 editorial freelancers from across North America and abroad. And you don’t have to be a member to attend!

We now are accepting proposals for the 2026 EFA Virtual Conference, taking place virtually Fri., June 26 to Sat., June 27! Proposals may be submitted through March 15, and accepted speakers will notified on a rolling basis.

We seek proposals for 55-minute informative sessions or panels or 90-minute deep-dive workshops for the following session tracks:

  • Business of Freelancing (e.g., marketing, planning for retirement, contracts)
  • Tricks of the Trade (e.g., finding success as a freelance writer, editing sensitive content)
  • Adding to skills to your editing toolbox (e.g., how to be a better developmental editor, working alongside technology to enhance your human touch)
  • Sharpening your writing pencil (e.g., writing for newsletters, starting your first Substack)
