After the Edit: Navigating the Self-Publishing Maze Without Becoming Accidental Publishers
When an indie author finishes editing, the next level of complexity begins. ISBN decisions, distribution choices, metadata strategy, pricing, proof management, and platform setup can quickly overwhelm even capable writers.
In this candid and practical session, Ruth Schwartz, founder of Wonderlady Books, outlines what actually happens between “final edit” and “book for sale.” She’ll explore where authors most often stumble, where editors are well-positioned to guide clients, and where expanding into publishing services requires thoughtful boundaries.
Participants will gain:
A clear overview of the post-editing publishing pipeline
Insight into common misconceptions about KDP, IngramSpark, and distribution
Guidance on service expansion without taking on unintended liability
A framework for smart referrals and collaborative partnerships
Designed for editors who want to strengthen client outcomes—whether by expanding their offerings or by confidently guiding authors toward the right next step.
