We (both editors and writers of children’s books) tend to use an English 101 vocabulary when discussing and thinking about books. But that’s not how children read them. Join Harold Underdown with the EFA KidLit Affinity Group to explore “reader response theory” and than apply it to the reading of fiction and nonfiction picture books, chapter books, and middle grade novels.
Harold Underdown has worked in children’s publishing as an editor for more years than he wishes to put on the record. He is the author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Publishing Children’s Books, runs the Purple Crayon website at www.underdown.org , and gives workshops through Boyds Mills (formerly the Highlights Foundation) and SCBWI.
The EFA is excited to give a copy of Harold’s book away to one lucky attendee as a door prize. Register for the event by clicking here .
