MadePerfect

I am an experienced language reviser in several fields: academic, business, and education. I most recently have been revising and language checking scholarly books, PHD dissertations and Master’s theses. I have also edited grant proposals in education and business and have assisted with the preparation of PowerPoint presentations in business.
I do on-line, textual editing and am available for Zoom/TEAMS conferences afterward as necessary. I work with whatever method works best for the client.
I have read fiction manuscripts for sense and plot, and have also simply edited them for language, punctuation, uniformity, structure, etc.
My personal experience as a writer includes both fiction and poetry, so I am sympathetic to the creative writer; however, I have worked most of my life with practical texts–grant applications, business proposals, essays, journal articles for academic and business publications, documentation for government agencies, including groups such as the United Nations and the European Union.
One specialty I have is working with writers for whom English is a 2nd or 3rd language. Depending on my familiarity with the native language I may be able to help the writer to better conceptualize materials in English. My languages are: French, Russian, Swedish, and Finnish, and elementary German.
My strong point is attention to detail. I review a manuscript several times, using a combination of proofreader’s marks and notes on the text. I also make notes which I then condense in a series of written notes attached to the final document. This can be a grammatical explanation, or a set of questions that will require the writer to elaborate on a point or re-write a section that is unclear.
Timeliness is of utmost importance to me. I keep to the client’s schedule, and manage my assignments so they are always on time.
