I edit and proofread fiction, memoir, and academic nonfiction primarily by queer people, women, and people of color. In fiction work I specialize in romance and historical fiction, particularly with LGBTQ+ themes; and in nonfiction I specialize in humanities and social sciences fields including gender and sexuality studies, Native and Indigenous studies, and environmental history.
I also offer authenticity reading for trans and nonbinary characters.
I edit for authors who don’t want to forget that people will be reading their work: I approach every text with its readers always in mind, editing not only to correct typos and grammatical errors but to ensure that language is inclusive and accurate. Equally, I approach each author as a person, editing by the philosophy that an author’s work is their own and suggesting revisions to help clarify their message, not to alter it or insert my own voice.
