Academic Editorial Services

  • Editorial Services  I provide developmental book editing, copy editing, line editing, proofreading, and polishing. I proofread for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and typographical errors. I work with academics and authors at all stages of manuscript and book development.

  • Theses and Dissertations I edit with the approval of a student’s faculty mentor.
  • Articles, Journals, Chapter Submissions, Academic Monographs, Book Manuscripts, Proposals, White Papers, Program Evaluations, Writing Samples, and Academic Job Application Materials I edit for authors, researchers, and academics in all fields who need their manuscript polished before submission to US and UK journals, job applications, grant applications, or publishers.

  • Native and Non-native speakers of English I edit for researcher-authors who are native and non-native speakers of English.

  • Word, LaTeX, and PDF I offer edits using “tracked changes” in Word or notes in LaTeX or PDF. I give explanations for editorial comments in the margins as often as I can

  • STEAM I work with science and humanities experts as a developmental editor – including astrophysicists, biochemists, neuroscientists, architects, civil engineers, NASA scientists, historians, and mathematicians – as you turn your rich academic content and expertise into books for university presses and for more mainstream audiences.
  • GRANTS I work as a prospect researcher and editor to identify fellowships, grants, and financial support for your individual book projects, your department, and your organization
  • Payments I give a specific quote range once I see the manuscript and before editorial work has begun.  I use a secure invoice system that allows domestic and international payments with credit cards or electronic payments, e-checks, or bank transfers that you would receive as an email link after receiving completed edits.

About Me I have written and edited grants and web content as the director at a nationally ranked Liberal Arts College. I have worked with the Organization Mondiale pour l’Education Préscolaire (OMEP), the Scandinavia House, the American Scandinavian Foundation (ASF),  the Anti-Defamation League, the Center on Extremism, the Center for Technology & Science, as well as for academics at science, technology and interdisciplinary think tanks, and the United Nations. In addition to doctoral work, I have an MA in bibliographical studies and have worked on the World Shakespeare Bibliography. I also have an MFA in writing from Sarah Lawrence College. I have worked as an editor for two scholarly journals, publishing houses in NYC, and a belles-lettres press specializing in publishing international authors. I have also worked as an editor for Metro-UN, International Affairs Newspaper.  In addition to international affairs, I have edited widely in science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics.  More information on LinkedIn Profile: www.linkedin.com/in/saundra-norton

Here are reviews from recent clients:

Saundra is a total pro, and I highly recommend her for editing. She also possesses a skill almost never seen in creatives—she knows how to deliver criticism and build self-worth simultaneously.

Very helpful comments…and way ahead of schedule!

Excellent copy editor with a sharp eye and encyclopedic knowledge of English grammar. She adhered to her delivery date, which was early, and maintained proper communication throughout. Highly recommended; I will definitely hire her again in the future.
