DFW Chapter Event: The Rising Tide: How accountability and mastermind groups can help boost and sustain professional development, productivity, business planning, editorial skills, and more

August 3rd @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm CDT

Erin Brenner and Katherine Kirk have each been in a small group of like-minded professionals for several years. Erin’s group started as a social group and quickly became a mastermind group, while Kath’s started out as an accountability group and is now shifting toward a mastermind group as its members’ experience has grown. These small groups offer editors a safe, supportive space where they can hash out ideas, bounce tricky problems off each other, gather resources, and borrow each other’s brilliance. Join us for a casual chat about how to set up your own group for success.

About the presenters:

Erin Brenner is the author of The Chicago Guide for Freelance Editors: How to Take Care of Your Business, Your Clients, and Yourself from Start-Up to Sustainability. She offers one-on-one business coaching to freelance editors. Erin is also the owner of Right Touch Editing, a boutique editorial agency for small and midsize businesses and individual business professionals. Erin is the 2024 winner of the Robinson Prize from ACES and is a Full Member of ACES. She is also an Advanced Professional Member of the Chartered Institute for Editing and Proofreading.

Katherine Kirk is a fiction editor who dabbles in nonfiction, and she has been doing it since 2020. When she’s not editing, she’s paying tribute to her feline overlords, walking along the cliffs of Rabat, Morocco, where she currently lives with her Texan husband, or zooming through outer space in computer games. She’s active on Facebook, Threads, and Instagram, as @GeckoEdit.
