Barbara Kasten has an MS in Professional Writing and over 30 years of experience as an editor and proofreader in the technical publications departments of Fortune 500 companies, including AT&T, GE Healthcare and JPMorgan Chase, ensuring content adheres to corporate style standards as well as the Chicago Manual of Style. A second-generation journalist, her freelance writing has appeared in the Chicago Tribune and affiliates, as well as Mom.Me and BlogHer. Most recently, she has ventured into developmental editing for fiction writers. Under the pen name Barbara Valentin, she’s the author of five novels, including the False Start, book 1 in her acclaimed Assignment: Romance series, which earned a coveted starred review from Publisher’s Weekly.
