Barbara Magalnick
A seasoned writer and editor, I’ve also been an instructor. I’ve worked with private clients/authors as well as publishers/packagers on most genres of fiction and nonfiction as well as textbooks. Clients have considered me to be a creative writer, a manuscript and developmental editor, and a copyeditor. Clients have admired my strong skills, helpful attitude, and willingness to work beyond expectations to achieve clarity, consistency, continuity, and readability. As an editor, I ensure a quality product while illuminating the author’s voice and maintaining the integrity and intent of the work; I am known to complete projects, invariably producing a publishable manuscript.
I have been teaching in the online editorial certificate program at UC Berkeley since 2011. My specialty is grammar. I’ve also taught advanced copyediting courses for Queens University (Canada) and the EFA, using Chicago 17 for both.
