Brenda S. Miller

I have been helping people communicate better for years. No matter what kind of project is in front of me, I bring to it a valuable real-world perspective, a careful eye, and a genuine love of language.

My first job out of college was as the Assistant to the Editor for the Journal of Marketing where I learned not only about academic editing (APA style) but also the ins and outs of the peer-review publishing world, something I have continued to be interested in with my freelance work as an academic and creative editor. During my time at USC, I completed my Master of Professional Writing, studying many different writing forms from poetry and fiction to creative non-fiction and technical writing. Now I work as a professional writer in the higher education non-profit fundraising area.

Additionally, I am an active member of SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators) and very plugged in to the Kid Lit community as a writer and an editor. I would love to help more people in this area, specifically picture books and middle grade novels.

In short, I simply can’t get enough of editing and writing and look forward to getting started on your project, whatever it may be.
