Bryony Leah Editorial

[UNEXPECTED AVAILABILITY – NOVEMBER 2019. Due to a large reschedule, I have unexpected availability through November. Please email bryony@bryonyleah.com for pricing if you’re interested in a fast turnaround.]

I am a freelance editor and published writer offering friendly, affordable book editing services. I split my time each year between England and the USA, but I work with authors and publishers internationally. I’m a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association and I’ve trained with the Society for Editors and Proofreaders. I have over a decade of experience writing and editing fiction.

My approach to editing is simple: I want to help you publish a book you’re genuinely proud of—and that support extends far beyond the pages of your manuscript. I’m a full-time freelancer, and as such, I’m readily available to reply to my clients’ emails, share advice, and cheerlead for the authors whose books I edit every day of the week. This is what I love to do, and I pride myself on offering an attentive, affordable book editing service for authors who want loyal, lasting communication, now and throughout their writing career.

About My Services

I specialize in editing the following fiction genres but I’m always open to taking on projects that fall outside the box:

  • Romance Fiction (all sub-genres)
  • Teen Fiction
  • Young Adult Fiction
  • Contemporary Fiction
  • Erotic Fiction

I offer affordable copy editing, developmental editing, and proofreading services. I keep my rates deliberately below industry standard as part of my mission to offer a high-quality, accessible editorial service to writers from every background.

I also offer a range of complementary editorial services, such as query letter editing, pay-per-chapter options, and manuscript critiques.

[Last updated 4 November 2019: I am currently accepting new authors. Please contact me today for more info, availability, and for a free sample edit.]

About Me

I’ve been working as a freelance book editor since 2014, but I’ve been a writer since early childhood. My fiction has been published by Simon and Schuster imprint Gallery Books (US & Canada), while my articles have been published in a variety of industry journals, magazines, and online publications. For the past decade, I’ve been in close contact with literary agents, online publishers, writers at every stage of their career, and a wide variety of like-minded publishing professionals. Some of the most recent companies I’ve been commissioned to write for include Netflix, Lionsgate, AwesomenessTV, and Dreamworks Press.

When I’m not editing or writing, I enjoy reading (of course!), watching old sitcoms, blogging, and exceeding the recommended daily dosage of social media. I work from home, splitting my time between England, UK, and Miami, FL.

A Word from Some of My Clients

“Bryony Leah edited my novel Permission to Touch. She has a keen eye for detail and was very thorough with her edit, fixing up those embarrassing typos that make a writer blush. She was also very prompt in returning the edited manuscript to me.” – Rowena Wiseman, Permission to Touch

“Bryony has an incredible attention to detail and is a joy to work with. Her feedback made my novel so much better and I’m so happy that I found her.” – Danielle Lori, The Sweetest Oblivion

“Thank you, thank you, thank you! You have been so incredible all along – easy to talk to, clear with your ideas and notes, patient with my questions, and of course, you’ve been so passionate about Charlotte’s story, which just means the world to me. I am so, so glad I reached out to you all those months ago, and I appreciate your time, hard work, and dedication more than I could even put into words.” – Laura Cacace, Trace The Edges

“I’ve been working with Bryony for almost two months but it feels like I’ve known and worked with her for years by how personable she is. She is quick with responses, does a thorough examination of the work, and gives detailed feedback. Overall, it has been easy working with Bryony and the process has been painless! I am definitely going to be a returning client!” – Stephanie Terault, White Abyss

“Bryony is very thorough, thoughtful, and is great at streamlining your work but still maintaining your voice and tone. She’s amazing at making your manuscript smoother to read and has a great way of raising any points that need addressing in a discursive way. For me, an editor needs to be someone I can trust to scrutinize my story, understand and question my characters’ motivations, and be honest enough to tell me when something isn’t working and where I need stronger complications. Bryony is brilliant at all of those things and I could tell she cared about helping me to tell the best version of my story that I could.”  – Mark Boutros, First Fool
