I specialize in academic copyediting and formatting, with an emphasis in the Arts and Humanities, as well as French-English translation. I also have vast experience copyediting academic publications of non-native English writers.
I earned my PhD in French literature (Emory 2009), taught grammar in French, Italian, and English as a professor for 15 years, and am professionally trained in copyediting and Chicago style with the Professional Sequence in Editing (UC Berkeley).
I am the ongoing copyeditor for Cambridge University Press’s History in Africa and Nationalities Papers and Penn Press’s Journal for Early Modern Cultural Studies. Since 2020, I also serve as the French-language copyeditor for Cambridge University Press’s Canadian Journal of Political Science/Revue canadienne de science politique and Canadian Journal on Aging/Revue canadienne du vieillissement.
Copy editing: I have copy edited, formatted, and indexed academic volumes and manuscripts for presses such as Rutgers University Press, Gallaudet University Press, Bucknell University Press, and Lexington Books. I expertly compile bibliographies and edit notes and references. I am trained in Chicago style and am well-versed in MHRA, MLA, and APA styles. I have copy edited several intercultural memoirs as well asacademic volumes, dissertations, articles, and manuscripts in deaf culture, education, religion, French studies, Hindu studies, art history, media studies, literary theory, early modern studies, women’s studies, psychology, Jewish studies, political science, African studies, philosophy, etc. I have also copy edited many university student and professional statements, web pages, CVs, and college and tenure applications.
Translation out of French: I have translated books, articles, and periodicals out of French for researchers and university presses. This includes research and translation for a biography with Simon & Schuster and a forthcoming translation for Yale University Press and the Jewish Museum.
Perks of my Past Professorships: My background as a language and writing professor in three languages is quite useful, as is my service on various scholarship committees, is highly valuable for students applying for college. I offer near-native fluency in French and Italian and have vast experience polishing the writing of college students, academics, and non-native English speakers.
I create website content for authors, world-class musicians, and professionals. I guide first-time authors (memoir) in building their author platform, and enhance my clients’ web presence with SEO and engaging multimedia content. I have produced and edited video for marketing and educational purposes, including a documentary that was published with Journal of Health Communication.
My publication record and research include Caribbean, French, and West African literatures, early modern studies, postcolonial studies, theater, public health, and the arts. As a Professor of French and Italian, I taught grammar/writing/literature in French/Italian/English at Emory University, Eastern Illinois University, and Utica College (2002–2017). I gave various workshops at conferences on how to teach foreign language and published my research on Racine in a book chapter with Hollitzer and in French Review.
