Stylite Books LLC

I have worked as a literary editor for thirty-seven years and served for almost thirty-five years as associate editor of the journal the Missouri Review. As a freelance prose editor, I offer reasonably priced critiques of short and book-length manuscripts and discerning line editing on select manuscripts. My editing credentials include over thirty edited books in many genres. Books I’ve edited have won the John Simmons award, the Drue Heinz, the Peter Taylor prize for the novel, and the National Indie Excellence Award. Short-form works I have edited have been reprinted in virtually every major prize anthology. I am a former contributing editor for Bloom, where you can find my published essays and interviews with late-blooming writers. I hold a BA in French, an MA in creative writing, and a PhD in English literature. I’m also a fiction writer and essayist; my work has appeared widely in literary journals. My fiction has been long-listed and short-listed for several story and novel prizes. I am a recipient of a Barbara Deming Foundation grant for my writing about women’s issues. You can find samples of my writing at my website, stylitebooks.com
