Frank Blackwell

Technical Writer, Editor, Photographer, Corporate Filmmaker

Words, phraseology, tempo, beat, plot, focus, speed, order, consistency, tone, voice, melody, language, meaning, clarity, and the ease with which it is read . . .
… that is what I most enjoy bringing to the mix.

I am an accomplished writer and editor who loves to write about and edit almost everything. My favorite writing assignments are journalistic and relevant, leading the readers to conclusions at which they might not have otherwise arrived. My favorite editing assignments are those in which I am asked to edit and improve what someone else has written.

A close review of my resume will tell a story of a lifelong gathering of  knowledge, skills, and experiences. I worked for Perkin Elmer on the Hubble Space Telescope doing vibration, cryogenic and acoustic testing and data acquisition. At the IBM Watson Research Center I wrote more than 600 pages of build and deployment documentation for the first  thin client desktop distributed software server system released by IBM. At Pitney Bowes I wrote the proposal sent to the United States Postal Service to gain approval for the first internet based postage metering system. It was approved on the first pass. At Roche Diagnostics I developed a workflow for writing biotechnological protocols for desktop experimentation and using them as a script for producing biotech how-to videos.

All of my work is written in a way that speaks clearly and crosses language barriers for ESL readers.

I excel at explaining complex subject matter to a wide ranging audience.

I have written and spoken the voice tracks for more than 100 corporate videos that were used to market products, train employees, and educate the customer base. I have worked in the fields of aerospace, avionics, biotechnology, scientific studies, software development, environmental test,  computer science, medical studies, and political activism.
