Gina Kammer, The Inky Bookwyrm

Gina Kammer gives science fiction and fantasy authors direction in exploring their creativity and uses brain science hacks to show them how to get their stories on the page or ready to enchant their readers.

This inky bookwyrm—not a humble “worm” but very much a dragon of the medieval sort with a fierce love of tomes—is an editor, book coach, and author with 10 years of experience and hoarded craft knowledge, including a strong background in educational publishing, teaching, and journalism. Gina specializes in science fiction and fantasy, but her papery wingspan stretches over a broad range of subjects, styles, and formats. She earned an MA in English Literature studying the creative process and analyzing high fantasy with cognitive neuroscience and psychology.

As a former editor at Capstone, Gina has worked with authors at all stages and levels, providing a keen, reptilian eye from initial concept to the final proofreads. Whether editing middle-grade, young-adult, or adult novels, her industry knowledge informs her suggestions and advice to ensure each book offers quality, meaningful stories. Furthermore, this book dragon has a nose for snuffling out the content and presentation best suited to engaging readers.

Teaching writing and literature courses has made Gina an excellent developmental editor. Her talon-sharp focus tightens plots, enhances characters, and torches inconsistencies to best showcase author voice and individuality. With both hatchling and seasoned authors, her collaboration on their projects has added distinct value.

This book dragon will find the gems in your precious treasure trove of words and help you polish them until their gleam must be put on display. Whether that display takes the form of an indie pub or with the intent of finding a traditional home, feed Gina your words, and she can help you make that dream become more than a fantasy!
