Heidi Ragsdale

Text Perfected

I provide a full range of editing and writing services, including proofreading, copyediting, line editing, structural editing, developmental edits, and ghostwriting.

Approach: My focus is on substantive editing—particularly stylistic and structural editing—but I happily accept projects for light copyediting and proofreading as time permits. While I have worked with everything from technical material (instructional software guides) to academic journal articles to screenplays, I particularly enjoy bringing memoirs and biographies to life. My aim is always to refine and amplify the author’s voice, allowing them to realize their vision of the material.

Education:  I took my first editing course over 25 years ago and have been editing and proofreading, part-time or full-time, ever since. I have a BA in philosophy with a minor in psychology and have completed the SFU certificate program in Editing. I have taken many courses in other areas and continue to indulge my passion for information gathering whenever possible. Every project presents the opportunity to learn something new, which is one of the many reasons I love editing!

As an American now living in Canada, I work with people throughout North America and around the world. My clients cover a broad spectrum: academics, scientists, life coaches, IT professionals, CPAs,  entrepreneurs, and ordinary people who want to tell their stories.  I don’t limit my clientele based on their geography, profession, or area of interest. If I believe I can help you bring your content to life or smooth its rough edges, I will be happy to work with you. I can be reached through my website at textperfected.com.
