James Bessey
So Write Editing
Jim Bessey is a full-time freelance editor with a wide range of editing experience. He specializes in copyediting for indie novelists. He lives in coastal Wilmington, North Carolina with his wife Melinda and best dog Layla. Originally from the Finger Lakes region in upstate NY, he moved to Wilmington just after Hurricane Florence devastated the Cape Fear area.
An avid writer, Jim founded SoWrite.Us.com in 2010 as a site to host writing advice articles and competitions. Under the imprint SoWrite Publishing, he published “Beyond the Blue and the Gray,” by the late Tony Verna in 2014. The two met in 2009, when Jim was a senior content editor at the international writers’ website, Helium.com (later discontinued). In addition to his editing role, Jim wrote numerous trade articles for clients of that site.
Today, he specializes in comprehensive editing and proofreading for self-published authors in genres including YA Fantasy, adult Contemporary fiction, and Thrillers. You can find Jim on Facebook at So Write Editing, as well as on Twitter and LinkedIn. He always answers his emails.
