Jana Lys Weinstein
I am a freelance copy and substantive editor specializing in cultural and political studies, the humanities and social sciences, general nonfiction, technology, and finance. I have done proofreading, copy and structural editing, and content development for books, magazines, Web sites, journal articles, theses and dissertations, recent translations, and authors who are in the process of developing their work prior to submission.
My editorial skills include line editing for tone, style, and mechanics; structural reorganization for structure, logic, and flow; content development; rewriting; providing authors with line-by-line commentary as well as longer-form feedback; assessments of whether a piece meets the criteria of a subject area, readership, or field; an in-depth knowledge of the rules of various style manuals; proofreading; and ghostwriting.
With a master’s degree in the humanities from the University of Chicago and an editorial focus on academic and scholarly texts, I am particularly skilled at working with the content and writing style of academic and theoretical subject matter.
