“Letting another person read your writing can make you feel vulnerable. I want to ensure you know that getting your ideas into words and on a page is a HUGE deal. You should be proud of yourself for getting as far as you have!”

A Bit About Me

Pronouns: She/Her

I have always loved getting lost in a book and imagining the different worlds and characters that inhabit them. This pull toward storytelling and world-building led me to seek my bachelor’s degree in creative writing. Through that experience, I found that I enjoyed the process of workshopping my peers’ writing. After college, I explored the publishing world and worked with several presses, learning the ins and outs of production and manuscript selection. However, my real passion always lay with stories and the ideas behind them.

I sought a career centered around my love of workshopping a writer’s piece and learned that developmental editing was precisely that! I returned to school and completed the editing certificate from the University of Chicago’s Graham School, and I’ve been in love with the field ever since. I read imaginative stories, work with fantastic writers, and give in-depth feedback on what works well in a given manuscript and where things might need some adjustment. It is a privilege to help my clients make their writing the best it can be.

My Editing Philosophy:

  • I tailor my advice to fit you and your project.

  • I read through the whole work before diving into giving feedback. This means I understand the characters and storyline before suggesting any changes or making comments that may be answered in the next chapter.
  • I want to help writers understand what they do well and what might need improvement—the straight talk if you will.
  • It’s not my story; I’m just giving suggestions.
